Tinubu Honors Democracy Activists with National Awards

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced national awards aimed at honoring democracy activists and the "Soldier-Democrats" of the June 12 struggle. This announcement comes as a recognition of the sacrifices made by individuals who faced persecution, exile, and incarceration in their fight for democracy in Nigeria.

Among those honored are Barrister Ayoka Lawani, Tund Fagbenie, Oladel Alak, Olatunji Bello, Louis Odion, Segun Babatunde, Sam Omatsey, Sir Ademola Osinubi, Bola Bolawol, Lade Bonuola, Femi Kusa, Debo Adeniran, Chief Ayo Opadokun, Chief Ralph Obiora, Barrister Osa, Professor Sylvest Odion Akhain, Dr. Arthur Nwankwo, Dr. Osagie Obayuwana, Dr. Joe Okei Odumakin, Barrister Titu Mann, Joe Igbokw, Richard Akinnola, Ben Charl Obi, Dr. Niran Malaolu, Major General Ishola Williams, Rtd Femi Aborisade, Jenkin Alumona, Gbemiga Ogunley, Muyiwa Adekey, Babajid Kolad, Otitoju Ik, and Okonta. The list also includes military personnel who played roles in the June 12 struggle, such as Major General Ma Garba and Brigadier General Lawal Jaafaru.
