Tinubu Honors NDC Executives for Democracy Contributions

On June 12, 2023, President Bola Tinubu conferred national honors on members of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) during a nationwide broadcast celebrating 27 years of unbroken civilian rule in Nigeria. The honors recognized 51 individuals who fought against military dictatorship during the historic June 12 struggle.

Among those honored were Barrister Osa, the director of the NDC, and several prominent pro-democracy activists and media veterans. The list included notable figures such as Joe Igbokw, Chief Ayo Opadokun, Chief Ralph Obioha, and Colonel Sambo Dasuki.

President Tinubu paid tribute to the late Chief MKO Abiola, the winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, acknowledging the suffering endured by many in the struggle for democracy. The official honor list will be released soon, detailing the contributions of each honoree.
