Tinubu Approves 959 National Honours to Recognize Contributions Across Various Fields

Nigerian politician Tinubu has approved the conferment of 959 national honors, endorsing reforms to strengthen the funding framework of the Nigeria Police Force. The approval was made after a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The National Honours Award Committee, chaired by Justice Sidi Bage, recommended 824 recipients for national honors and 135 for special awards, totaling 959 honorees. Notable past honorees include Bill Gates, Uncle Sam Pemu, the Super Falcons, and Tigress for their contributions to public health, journalism, and sporting excellence.

The outgoing INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, was also celebrated for his decade of service to Nigeria.
