Tinubu Allocates N10bn to Combat Ebola Threat in Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the establishment of a presidential task force to address the threat of Ebola virus disease in Nigeria, allocating N10 billion for this initiative. The decision, announced in a statement by his special adviser Bayo Onanuga, comes amid rising concerns about Ebola's resurgence in neighboring African countries, particularly the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.

The newly constituted task force will be chaired by Femi Gbajabiamila, the President's Chief of Staff, and will include representatives from relevant ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as state governments. The task force's mandate includes implementing enhanced surveillance and screening measures at Nigeria's entry points, particularly international airports.

This includes intensified passenger screening, stricter temperature checks, and the introduction of a QR code-based health declaration system for travelers from high-risk countries. The task force is expected to coordinate efforts to prevent the importation of the virus and safeguard public health.
