Tinubu Approves 65 Ambassadors for Foreign Missions

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors to Nigerian missions abroad, marking a significant step in his administration's diplomatic engagement. This includes 31 non-career ambassadors and 34 career diplomats, whose nominations were confirmed by the Nigerian Senate in December of the previous year.

The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Adviser on Information Strategy. Among the notable non-career ambassadors are former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, assigned to Spain; former Minister of Health Isaac Folorunso Adewole, assigned to Canada; and former Senator Grace Bent, who will serve in Togo.

Other appointments include Lateef Kayode as ambassador to the United States and Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received diplomatic clearance for the ambassador-designates to the United Kingdom and France.

President Tinubu has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to commence an induction program for the ambassadors ahead of their deployment, which is expected to enhance Nigeria's diplomatic representation and advance the country's foreign policy objectives across various regions.
