Nigeria Appoints 65 Ambassadors to Strengthen Global Ties

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the deployment of 65 ambassadors, comprising 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career diplomats, to various Nigerian missions worldwide. This initiative aims to enhance Nigeria's global engagement.

The Senate confirmed these appointments in December 2025, paving the way for official assignments to strategic countries and international organizations. Notable non-career appointments include Mahmood Yakubu, the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who will serve as Nigeria's ambassador to Qatar, and former Minister of Interior, Lt.

Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (rtd), who will be deployed to China.

Other significant appointments include Femi Fani-Kayode as ambassador to Germany and Ita Enang, a former presidential aide, to South Africa. The list also features various other diplomats assigned to countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, and several others across Africa, Europe, and Asia.
