Tinubu and Military Facilitate Return of IDPs to Benue

The North Central Youth Development and Peace Agenda praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the military for their collaborative security efforts that have facilitated the return of over 1,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their homes in Benue State. In a statement signed by Ambassador Marcus Adams Odoba, the group commended General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Defence Staff, for overseeing military operations that have significantly reduced violent attacks in the region.

Recent achievements include the rescue of seven kidnap victims in Ohimini Local Government Area and the neutralization of suspected kidnappers in Katsina-Ala, along with the recovery of arms and ammunition. The Special Intervention Battalion has maintained relative calm in Guma Local Government Area, allowing IDPs to return home.

The group noted that additional troop deployments and improved coordination among security agencies have strengthened operations in the area, contributing to a decline in violence. Ambassador Odoba emphasized the importance of collaboration among military, state governments, and local communities in achieving these gains.
