Youth Groups Praise Tinubu for New Army Division in Benue

On Friday, the Tiv Youth Council Worldwide (TYCW) and Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, and Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu for the establishment of the 5 Division of the Nigerian Army, headquartered in Makurdi, Benue State. During a joint peaceful rally, the groups described the new division as a significant intervention aimed at strengthening security and restoring peace in Benue and the North-central region.

Emmanuel Katseen, Secretary of TYCW, emphasized the importance of this development in light of the prolonged insecurity in the state, which has faced armed attacks, kidnapping, banditry, militia activities, and communal conflicts. He noted that the division would enhance military command, improve rapid response to threats, protect farming communities, and create youth recruitment opportunities in the Army.

Aliyu Muhammad, Publicity Secretary of AYA, called the establishment historic and urged the federal government to ensure adequate funding and modern equipment for the division.
