Tinubu's Historic UK Visit to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

President Bola Tinubu will commence a two-day historic official visit to the United Kingdom on March 18-19, 2024, accompanied by his wife, Oluremi Tinubu. This visit is significant as it marks the first time in 37 years that a Nigerian leader will visit the UK.

During the visit, President Tinubu will be hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen bilateral relations and explore avenues for collaboration on issues such as immigration, trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

Notably, President Tinubu will engage in private discussions and interfaith dialogues, and will attend a state banquet in his honor. He is also scheduled to meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street, where they will discuss expanding bilateral engagement.

The visit will culminate in the signing of various memoranda of understanding, including a landmark £746 million financing deal involving the UK Export Finance and the Nigerian Port Authority for the refurbishment of major maritime infrastructure in Nigeria.
