Tinubu Launches Largest Lithium Processing Plant in Nigeria

On Thursday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissioned the largest lithium processing plant in Nasarawa State, developed by Diamond New Energy. The ceremony took place in the Endo community within the Nasarawa Local Government Area.

Tinubu emphasized the importance of lithium in the global mining economy, particularly for battery technology and renewable energy storage. He stated that the current administration is committed to investing in the mining sector to create jobs, build skills, and strengthen local enterprises.

The President noted that Nigeria is rich in natural resources but has historically struggled to convert these into economic wealth. He urged for a deliberate movement to extract and process raw materials to add value.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State praised the federal government and the Ministry of Solid Minerals for their support in achieving this milestone. The Minister of Solid Minerals, Dale Alak, highlighted the potential for economic progress in the North due to the state's abundant natural resources, including lithium, coal, and marble.
