Tinubu Directs Ministries to Adopt Paperless Workflow

On May 20, 2026, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced that 38 ministries and extra-ministerial departments in Nigeria will implement a paperless workflow system as part of a significant digitization effort within the civil service. Speaking at the opening of the International Civil Service Conference in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized the need to end manual inefficiencies in government operations and to foster a technology-driven public service.

He directed all ministries, departments, and agencies to deepen their digital work processes to enhance service delivery and responsiveness to citizens' needs. The initiative is part of a broader reform agenda aimed at building a modern bureaucracy capable of driving investment and innovation.

Tinubu also noted ongoing personnel audits and skill gap analyses to identify competencies needed for a 21st-century government. The President commended the leadership of the Federal Civil Service, particularly Didi Esther Walson-Jack, for their commitment to implementing the civil service reform strategy from 2021 to 2025.
