Tinubu Establishes National Health Technology Office

President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a National Health Technology Data Analytics Office (NHTDAO) to coordinate Nigeria's digital health agenda. Dr.

Obi Adigwe, the Director General of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development, has been appointed as the pioneer coordinator of this office. The announcement was made via a statement from the President's Special Adviser on Information Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on a Friday.

The NHTDAO will be housed within the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and will serve as a national platform to coordinate the country's digital health agenda without replacing the statutory functions of existing health institutions. The office aims to harmonize and empower both public and private institutions across the health system, setting standards and connecting operations within Nigeria's digital health architecture.

The establishment of the NHTDAO is expected to accelerate Nigeria's transition to a secure, interoperable, data-driven health system, improving outcomes for citizens in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration.
