Tinubu Appoints Bianca Ojukwu as Foreign Minister

President Bola Tinubu has elevated Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu to the position of Foreign Minister of Nigeria, marking a significant reshuffle within the country's diplomatic leadership. This appointment follows the resignation of Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue a governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Tuggar's resignation was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the President's special adviser on strategic communication, Bayo Onanuga. Ojukwu, who previously served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, brings extensive diplomatic experience to her new role, having represented Nigeria as an ambassador in Spain and later in Italy.

Additionally, Tinubu has nominated Sola Enikanolaiye as the new Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, subject to Senate confirmation. Enikanolaiye has a long career in diplomacy, serving as a permanent secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and holding various foreign posts, including assignments in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.

This reshuffle is part of a broader effort to strengthen Nigeria's foreign policy.
