Tinubu Urges Patriotism as Muslims Celebrate New Year

President Bola Tinubu congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and around the world on the occasion of the Islamic New Year, marking the 1st Muharram 1448AH. In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu urged citizens to embrace patriotism and good citizenship.

He reflected on the virtues of Hijrah, the migration of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina, highlighting lessons such as sacrifice, patience, and faith in Allah's divine plan. Tinubu emphasized that these lessons remain relevant in efforts to build a peaceful, just, and prosperous nation.

He called on Nigerians, particularly those of the Muslim faith, to embody the spirit of the new year by rededicating themselves to ideals of good citizenship, including acts of kindness, tolerance, honesty, and devotion to duties necessary for national unity, security, and development. Additionally, he prayed that the new Islamic year would bring blessings, peace, and prosperity to every household in Nigeria.
