Tinubu Grants Pardon to Army Major for Selling Weapons to Militants

Former Nigerian Army Major Suleiman Alabi Akubo, sentenced to life imprisonment for selling stolen military weapons to militants in the Niger Delta, has had his sentence reduced to 20 years by a presidential pardon granted by Tinubu. Akubo and other senior officers were involved in illegal arms sales, including to the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND).

The pardon was based on Akubo's good conduct and remorse, with notable buyers of the weapons including Sunni Okah and Henri Okah.
