Tinubu Endorses Hamzat for Lagos Governorship 2027

Obafemi Hamzat, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, disclosed on Wednesday that President Bola Tinubu has endorsed his governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 Lagos State elections. This announcement came during a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with the Governor's Advisory Council (GAC) led by Chairman Tajudeen Olusi.

Hamzat expressed excitement over the President's blessing, stating that he has gained significant experience in governance and feels prepared for the challenges ahead. He emphasized the importance of the GAC's unanimous decision to support his candidacy, which was formalized in a meeting held on Tuesday at Lagos House, Marina.

The council resolved to purchase Hamzat's N50 million governorship nomination form. Hamzat, who has served as Deputy Governor since 2019, highlighted that the party will conduct primaries in line with APC guidelines to ensure fair internal democracy, dismissing any objections raised by other aspirants.
