Tinubu Endorses Hamzat as Lagos APC Gubernatorial Candidate

On a recent Tuesday, Bola Ahmed Tinubu endorsed Hamzat as the Lagos APC gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 elections. This endorsement followed a high-level meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where the Governor Advisory Council (GAC) convened.

The meeting, led by GAC Chairman Tajudeen Olusi, resulted in a unanimous decision to adopt Hamzat as the consensus candidate. Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had previously declared Hamzat as his preferred successor.

In support of this decision, the council resolved to purchase a 50 million naira nomination form for Hamzat. During the meeting, Olusi addressed questions regarding the legitimacy of the consensus arrangement, emphasizing the democratic nature of the process.

Hamzat, acknowledging the responsibilities ahead, expressed confidence in his experience gained during his tenure as Deputy Governor under Sanwo-Olu, stating that he is prepared for the gubernatorial race.
