Tinubu Enhances NAF with Five New Helicopters for Security

On October 29, President Bola Tinubu inducted five new helicopters into the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to bolster its operational capabilities in combating terrorism, banditry, and other security threats in Nigeria. The new fleet consists of three Leonardo AW-109 Trekker B helicopters and two Airbus H-125 helicopters.
These additions are expected to enhance the Air Force's rotary-wing fleet, improve aircraft availability, and increase support for ground troops in various operational theatres. According to a statement from Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the helicopters will provide greater flexibility for military operations and strengthen the NAF's capacity to deliver timely air support.
The Leonardo AW-109 Trekker B helicopters are designed for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), close air support, armed escort, and combat search and rescue. The Airbus H-125 helicopters will offer light-helicopter support for surveillance and tactical mobility, thereby improving situational awareness and responsiveness in military operations.
