Okonkwo Criticizes Tinubu's Security Handling Amid Trip

Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), publicly criticized President Bola Tinubu for his perceived incapacity to resolve Nigeria's pressing security challenges. This statement came after a terrorist attack in Maiduguri, Borno State, which raised concerns about Tinubu's decision to travel to the United Kingdom.

Okonkwo questioned the appropriateness of Tinubu's trip, suggesting it was disrespectful to the victims of the attack and the Nigerian soldiers who lost their lives. He accused the Tinubu administration of corruption and incompetence, asserting that the president's actions demonstrated a lack of seriousness regarding the nation's security issues.

Tinubu's trip to the UK occurred on Tuesday, alongside Minister of Defence Christoph Musa and Vice President Kashim Shettima, to attend the second-term swearing-in ceremony of Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo. Okonkwo's remarks reflect a growing frustration with the current administration's handling of security matters in Nigeria.
