Chidi Odinkalu Critiques Tinubu's Extended Absence

Human rights activist and lawyer, Professor Chidi Odinkalu, criticized President Bola Tinubu during an appearance on Channels Television, stating that Tinubu's extended vacation in Europe has turned France into Nigeria's de facto capital. Odinkalu argued that Nigeria has become an ungoverned territory due to Tinubu's frequent absences, which now total 24 days.

He compared Tinubu's situation to Nigerians who migrate abroad for menial jobs, suggesting that the President is effectively acting as a "housekeeper" in Europe. Odinkalu also discussed the constitutional implications of the President's absence, noting that the 21 days mentioned in the Constitution refers to working days, which could extend to four calendar weeks.

He expressed concern over the governance vacuum, stating that the country is being run by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, which he deemed unacceptable. Odinkalu's remarks reflect a broader frustration with the current state of governance in Nigeria.
