Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his decision to travel to Europe for a three-week vacation while Nigeria faces significant challenges. In a post on X, Atiku stated that the timing of Tinubu's trip reveals a troubling gap in political leadership, asserting that Nigeria is not experiencing a constitutional vacuum but rather a vacuum of political leadership.

He highlighted the contrast between a private citizen's travels and the responsibilities of the President, questioning Tinubu's judgment in leaving the country during a crisis marked by high petrol prices, food rationing, and ongoing insecurity. Atiku used the analogy of a father who would not leave his family in a burning house to illustrate his point.

He concluded by stating that while a president can travel, it is crucial to prioritize the nation's needs, emphasizing that millions of Nigerians are suffering while the President is abroad.
