Tinubu Accused of Persecuting El-Rufai Over ADC Ties

Kenneth Okonkwo, a lawyer and politician, has made allegations against President Bola Tinubu, claiming that the federal government's actions against former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai are politically motivated due to El-Rufai's association with the African Democratic Congress (ADC). During an interview on a political program, Okonkwo argued that the treatment of El-Rufai by the current administration amounts to persecution rather than lawful prosecution.

He emphasized that El-Rufai's detention should be addressed immediately, insisting that due process must be followed in handling allegations against him. Okonkwo criticized the security agencies for detaining suspects without formal charges, stating that such actions violate fundamental human rights.

He pointed out that the Supreme Court has ruled against prolonged detention without bail and stressed that the principle of innocent until proven guilty must be upheld in legal proceedings.
