Musawa Backs Shaibu's NIS Appointment as Right Choice

Hannatu Musa Musawa, the Minister of Art, Culture and Tourism, endorsed Comrade Philip Shaibu's appointment as Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS). She described Shaibu as the right leader for the NIS at a time when Nigeria aims to maximize the economic and developmental potential of sports.

Musawa made these remarks during an engagement involving the NIS, Bodyline Fitness, and the Ministry ahead of the NIS FitLife 2026 program. She expressed confidence in Shaibu's understanding of sports' broader role beyond competitions, emphasizing its importance in Nigeria's economic and social development.

Musawa stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made the correct decision in appointing Shaibu, highlighting the potential of the sports and creative sectors to generate employment and empower youth. She called for stronger collaboration between these sectors and stressed the need for investment in training and mentoring for coaches and teachers to enhance the effectiveness of sports initiatives.
