Tinubu Appoints Shettima as APC Campaign Council Vice Chair

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Vice President Kashim Shettima as Vice Chairman I of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Presidential Campaign Council (PCC). This appointment is part of the APC's formal organization to secure a second term for Tinubu in the upcoming elections, which are set to begin on January 16, 2027.

Shettima, 59, is a former governor of Borno State and is recognized as a close ally of Tinubu. The President has publicly commended Shettima for his loyalty and support.

On August 27, 2026, Tinubu held closed-door discussions with APC governors at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa to address controversies surrounding the PCC list released on August 22, 2026. These consultations aimed to review the list, which has faced criticism.

Additionally, Chinedu Ogah, an APC member, urged Tinubu to reconsider the exclusion of Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru from the PCC, citing his contributions to the party's unity and structure.
