Zamfara Celebrates Peaceful Eid-el-Kabir Amid Security Gains

Residents of Zamfara State expressed gratitude towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle for the enhanced security situation during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in 2026. Hundreds of citizens in towns such as Gusau, Kaura Namoda, and Talata Mafara celebrated the festival in a calm atmosphere, a stark contrast to previous years marked by insecurity and fear of attacks.

Malam Ibrahim Lawal noted that the improved security enabled people to travel and reunite with loved ones. Market activities surged, with traders like Rukayya Sani reporting increased patronage during the festivities.

Dr. Aliyu Sadauki, chairman of the Zamfara State Progress Development Union, acknowledged the visible presence of troops, which contributed to maintaining peace throughout the celebrations.

Security expert Ibrahim Musa Danmairogo commended the military's efforts in stabilizing the region, particularly along the Zamfara-Katsina-Sokoto corridor, which has renewed hope among residents.
