Minister Doro Faces Court for Cash Transfer Transparency

Dr. Bernard Doro, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, is facing potential contempt proceedings for allegedly refusing to comply with a Federal High Court order to publish the names of beneficiaries of a conditional cash transfer program in Ondo State.

The court order, issued on November 3, 2025, requires the minister to release full details of individuals receiving cash transfers across 18 local government areas in Ondo State from January to May 2025. Myson Nejo, a lawyer and governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress in the 2024 Ondo State elections, filed the case to demand transparency in the distribution of federal government social intervention funds.

The court, presided over by Justice B.F.M. Nyako, granted Nejo's request and awarded him 2 million naira in damages.

Despite the court's ruling, there is no evidence that the minister has complied, and an appeal has been filed against the order. The situation raises serious questions about the management and transparency of social welfare programs under President Bola Tinubu's administration.
