Tinubu Mourns Rear Admiral Musa Katagum's Passing

President Bola Tinubu expressed his sorrow over the death of Rear Admiral Musa Katagum, the Chief of Naval Operations of the Nigerian Navy, who passed away on February 19, 2026, after a prolonged illness. Katagum had served in various capacities, including as Director of the Presidential Communication Command Control Centre (PC4) and Chief of Intelligence in the Nigerian Navy.

He was appointed to the strategic role of Chief of Naval Operations in November of the previous year. In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu conveyed his condolences to Katagum's family and the leadership of the Nigerian Navy, acknowledging the significant loss to the military and the country.

The President described Katagum's passing as a blow to the military, highlighting his vast experience and invaluable contributions to the Nigerian Navy and the armed forces as a whole. Tinubu prayed for the deceased's soul to find eternal rest and for comfort for his family and military comrades during this time of grief.
