Tinubu Advocates for State Police Constitutional Amendment

On a recent occasion, President Bola Tinubu urged members of the House of Representatives to consider an urgent constitutional amendment that would pave the way for the establishment of state police in Nigeria. He emphasized that this move would significantly improve security across the nation by allowing states to create their own police forces, thereby preventing abuse over time.

Tinubu's remarks were made during an interfaith breakfast event in Abuja, attended by both Muslim and Christian lawmakers, symbolizing unity during the Ramadan and Lenten seasons. He highlighted the importance of decentralizing the security architecture to effectively tackle emerging threats and cautioned against poorly structured approaches to security.

Tinubu expressed confidence in the legislative support for this initiative and acknowledged ongoing security challenges faced by local representatives. He also issued fresh directives to the National Security Agency to intensify operations in the Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi State.
