Tinubu Seeks UK Support Against Terrorism in Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has called for the United Kingdom's support in addressing terrorism in Nigeria and the broader West African region. Speaking at a state banquet at Windsor Castle, he highlighted the long-standing historical and cultural ties between Nigeria and Britain, noting that this visit marks the first time a Nigerian leader has spoken at Windsor Castle.

Tinubu emphasized Nigeria's significant responsibility in safeguarding regional stability and the essential nature of UK partnership in intelligence sharing and counterterrorism measures. He is scheduled to meet UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss security cooperation and economic collaboration.

Tinubu also reflected on the influence of British legal frameworks on Nigeria's judicial and parliamentary systems, celebrating the contributions of the Nigerian diaspora in the UK. He acknowledged the UK's support during Nigeria's pro-democracy struggles in the 1990s and expressed gratitude for the refuge provided to pro-democracy advocates during military rule.
