Dauda Lawal Challenges Wike's Political Duality Ahead of 2027

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has expressed strong support for fellow governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in opposition to Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Lawal stated that Wike cannot continue to belong to two political factions as Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections.

His remarks were made during an interview with Channels Television's Inside Sources at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. The comments followed a firm stance taken by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) against Wike's Rainbow Coalition, which includes various political figures advocating for President Bola Tinubu's re-election.

Lawal emphasized that the coalition could undermine the APC's chances of securing victories in upcoming elections. Wike, who is a national leader of the PDP faction recognized by the court, continues to support Tinubu's administration while expressing concerns about politicians who switched parties.

Lawal indicated that the APC governors are effectively urging Wike to formally join the APC.
