Zamfara Governor Lawal Opposes Wike's Rainbow Coalition

Dauda Lawal, the Governor of Zamfara State, has publicly opposed the Rainbow Coalition led by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Lawal's comments came during an interview with Channels Television at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

He stated that the Progressive Governors Forum, which includes governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has distanced itself from Wike's coalition, citing concerns that its activities could undermine the political ambitions of APC members. Lawal criticized Wike for not clarifying his political allegiance, asserting that it is unacceptable for Wike to support both the ruling party and candidates from other parties.

He emphasized the importance of political unity, stating, “You can’t be on two sides.” Lawal indicated that he would bring this matter to the attention of President Bola Tinubu upon his return from his working vacation in France.
