Tinubu to Address UNGA on Nigeria's Reforms in September

President Bola Tinubu is set to address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York in September, where he will showcase Nigeria's reform agenda to world leaders. Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, Nigeria's permanent representative to the UN, disclosed this during a briefing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Tinubu's participation in the 80th session of the UNGA will provide an opportunity to highlight the achievements of his administration, particularly in economic governance and regional security initiatives aimed at strengthening border policies across West Africa. The president is expected to attend several high-level side events focusing on energy, education, and healthcare.

Ibrahim noted that Tinubu's speech is scheduled for 10:45 AM New York time, which is around 2:00 PM Nigeria time. This will be Tinubu's first attendance at the UNGA since addressing the 78th session in 2023.

He did not attend the 79th session in 2024-2025 due to a significant reduction in Nigeria's delegation as part of cost-saving measures.
