Tinubu to Sit Near Trump at 81st UNGA in September

Bola Tinubu, the President of Nigeria, is scheduled to sit close to Donald Trump, the President of the United States, during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September. Jimoh Ibrahim, Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, disclosed this information during a briefing with state house correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

Tinubu will occupy a front row seat during the general debate alongside other world leaders. Ibrahim did not confirm whether there would be a bilateral meeting between Tinubu and Trump but emphasized that Tinubu's seating arrangement is significant.

The President intends to present Nigeria's achievements over the past three years and engage with global leaders on national and regional issues, particularly focusing on border security across West Africa. Ibrahim mentioned that Tinubu plans to advocate for greater international support for coordinated border security efforts in the region and will present a case study on enhancing UN-backed border policies during discussions at UN headquarters.
