Tinubu Promises Action Against Plateau State Violence

On Tuesday night, President Bola Tinubu held a high-level meeting at the Presidential Villa with Plateau State stakeholders, including Governor Caleb Mutfwang and former governors. Tinubu pledged to deploy the full power of the federal government against individuals identified as responsible for the ongoing violence in Plateau State.

He warned that those found culpable would face decisive action. The president called for credible intelligence to identify troublemakers and emphasized that security agencies would act without hesitation.

Tinubu also endorsed the establishment of a newly constituted peace committee to review existing white papers on past conflicts and to implement recommendations. He directed the restructuring of ineffective committees and advocated for the creation of a state police to better address security challenges.

Governor Mutfwang described the meeting as historic, marking the first time former governors gathered to discuss these issues. The meeting follows recent violent incidents in the state, highlighting the ongoing ethno-religious conflicts.
