Tinubu Promises State Police to Combat Insecurity

On Monday night, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced his commitment to establishing state police as a strategy to address the ongoing insecurity challenges in Nigeria. This declaration was made during an interfaith breakfast event held at the Aso Villa in Abuja, which brought together Muslim and Christian leaders in observance of Ramadan and Lent.

Tinubu urged state governors to intensify their efforts in improving the welfare of citizens, particularly at the grassroots level, where many feel neglected. He commended state chief executives for their humanitarian outreach during the holiday period, especially in supporting vulnerable groups, including youth and struggling families.

The president reiterated his administration's determination to rescue Nigeria from its current challenges, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between federal and state governments to restore hope and deliver meaningful development. He highlighted that security is foundational to economic growth and that the proposed establishment of state police would empower states with the necessary tools to protect their citizens and strengthen the nation's overall security framework.
