Tinubu Urges Nigerians to Collaborate with Police for Safety

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu called on Nigerians to partner with police and security agencies to effectively address insecurity across the country during the 2026 National Police Day held in Abuja. He represented Vice President Kashim Shettima at the event, highlighting that national safety cannot be achieved by law enforcement alone.

Tinubu stressed the necessity for citizens, community leaders, traditional institutions, religious leaders, civil society, and the private sector to work closely with police forces. He warned that mistrust between citizens and law enforcement exacerbates insecurity, advocating for a democratic connection between police and the public.

Tinubu urged the Nigeria Police Force to sustain reform efforts and uphold professional service standards. Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu echoed this sentiment, emphasizing accountability and discipline within the force.

He assured that leadership would support personnel and improve welfare, reinforcing the commitment to uphold the dignity of the police profession.
