Tinubu Praises Lebara's Launch in Nigeria's Telecom Sector

On Saturday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially welcomed the launch of Lebara Nigeria, expressing confidence in the country's digital economy and its potential to lead technological investments in Africa. In a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, Tinubu noted that the telecommunications sector remains a significant economic driver, contributing 5.78% year-on-year growth in Q3 2025 and 14% to the nation's GDP.

He commended the leadership of Lebara Nigeria, including CEO Teniola Stuffman, for their commitment to expanding telecom access, creating jobs, and strengthening Nigeria's digital infrastructure. The President acknowledged the presence of British High Commission representatives, including Deputy High Commissioner Johni Baxter, underscoring the enduring economic diplomacy between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Tinubu reiterated his administration's commitment to fostering a stable and transparent investment environment for private enterprises to thrive, wishing Lebara Nigeria success as it begins commercial operations in Africa's largest telecom market.
