Adeyeye Affirms Wike's Support for Tinubu Amid Party Tensions

Senator Dayo Adeyeye, the Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Ports Authority and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserted that the political differences between former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike and some APC governors regarding support for President Bola Tinubu can be managed without damaging their relationship. Adeyeye, who also chairs the South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA), emphasized that the common ground among these political actors is their support for President Tinubu.

He noted that Wike has consistently maintained his membership in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while supporting Tinubu at the presidential level, a stance he has held since the 2023 election. Adeyeye explained that Wike's support for Tinubu does not preclude him from backing candidates of his choice in state-level contests.

He highlighted that dialogue is essential to reconcile differing political interests and maintain unity in support of Tinubu, who has appointed Wike as a minister without requiring him to defect to the APC.
