ADC Chieftain Warns Against Tinubu's Opposition Suppression

Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has expressed alarm over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's attempts to weaken and silence political opposition in Nigeria. In a post on his former Twitter account, Momodu argued that the current political climate shows increasing pressure on opposition parties, suggesting that the administration is tightening its control over Nigeria's political space.

He warned that the situation could worsen if Nigerians fail to rise above party loyalty to defend democratic competition. Momodu linked the challenges faced by opposition parties to internal crises and power struggles, particularly within the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

He criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for not understanding the logic behind the PDP's issues, particularly regarding the influence of Nyesom Wike. Momodu insisted that a strong opposition is essential for the survival of democracy in Nigeria and accused Tinubu of being obsessed with suppressing opposition, stating that he would do anything to eliminate it.
