ADC Accuses Tinubu of Targeting Opposition Amid Hardships

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns regarding the state of democracy in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections, accusing President Bola Tinubu of targeting opposition parties. In an interview on Thursday, Ralph Nwosu, the former national chairman of ADC, stated that the current administration is focused on political control rather than addressing the economic hardships faced by ordinary Nigerians.

He emphasized that democracy cannot survive if government agencies are used as tools against rival parties. Nwosu warned that the country is experiencing significant suffering, with 150 million Nigerians unable to afford basic food items, as hunger and poverty spread across the nation.

He criticized political leaders for prioritizing power struggles over the needs of the populace and urged the government to focus on food security, job creation, and economic recovery instead of targeting political rivals. Nwosu's remarks come amid rising public frustration due to inflation and the increasing cost of living.
