Makarfi Confident El-Rufai Will Succeed Tinubu Amid Corruption Case

Hayatudeen Lawal Makarfi, a close ally of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, stated on Tuesday that he is confident El-Rufai will succeed President Bola Tinubu in the next general elections. Makarfi made this disclosure while addressing journalists shortly after court proceedings involving El-Rufai.

The former governor is currently facing a corruption case filed against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) relating to offenses of corrupt practices. The Federal High Court in Kaduna ordered that El-Rufai remain in the custody of the anti-graft agency until he fulfills his bail conditions.

The court, presided over by Judge Rilwanu Aikawa, admitted El-Rufai to bail in the sum of N200 million, requiring two sureties, one of whom must be a civil servant not below grade level 15. The judge described the conditions attached to the bail as strict, emphasizing the need for compliance to ensure justice is served.
