Tinubu Urges Citizens to Hold Governors Accountable

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu met with traditional rulers from Oyo State, led by Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland. During this meeting, Tinubu called on citizens to evaluate their governors' performance, particularly regarding the utilization of federal funds.

He noted that states now receive significantly higher federal allocations—four to five times more than when he and Ladoja served as governors over two decades ago. Tinubu criticized governors for constructing unnecessary flyovers in areas with low traffic and highlighted the ongoing struggles of Nigerians with poor infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security.

He argued that successful governance should focus on building systems that improve daily life rather than monuments for political visibility. The President's remarks aimed to shift accountability from solely the federal government to state governors, urging citizens to demand better governance and transparency.
