Tinubu Urges Governors to Prioritize Road Construction

On Thursday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu advised state governors to focus on constructing roads rather than flyovers in areas with minimal traffic. He noted that states now receive four to five times their previous allocations from the Federation Account, enhancing their capacity for meaningful infrastructure projects.

Tinubu made these remarks while meeting with a delegation of traditional rulers from Oyo State, led by Oba Rashidi Ladoja, who congratulated him on the rescue of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area after 56 days in captivity. He disclosed that the terrorists had demanded both ransom and the release of detained members of their group, which the Federal Government rejected.

Tinubu announced an increase in the Nigerian Army's operational divisions from eight to twelve to improve response times against terrorism and banditry. He reiterated that his administration would not negotiate with terrorists, stating, “We refuse to negotiate for ransom.”.
