Nigeria to Launch 10,000 Electric Tricycles in August

The Nigerian government, under the leadership of Vice President Kashim Shettima, announced plans to roll out 10,000 electric tricycles in August 2023. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance public transport and deepen transport reforms across the country.

Shettima made this announcement during a visit to the transport sector, highlighting that the tricycles will be distributed by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) throughout the North East region. President Bola Tinubu has approved this expansion as part of the administration's priority to improve Nigeria's fragmented transport system and integrate its logistics network.

The transport reform agenda aims to lower transport costs and improve connectivity nationwide, facilitating the movement of goods and services. The initiative also includes modernizing ports and strengthening logistics infrastructure, with a focus on operational efficiency in various transport sectors, including maritime and aviation.
