Omokri Critiques El-Rufai's Phone Tapping Comments

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, criticized Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, for comments made during an interview on Arise TV where El-Rufai described alleged admissible phone tapping. Omokri posted on Friday night, arguing that tapping phone calls without a court order constitutes a crime and raises serious legal and ethical concerns.

He stated that El-Rufai's admission during a live television call could implicate him as an accessory to illegal activities. Omokri further suggested that El-Rufai's actions could be aimed at targeting individuals associated with terrorist plots.

He advised El-Rufai to refrain from further comments, referencing El-Rufai's boast about unseating President Tinubu in 2027 and the potential interception of phone communications related to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This situation raises questions about the security of INEC's real-time election result transmission technology, specifically the vulnerability of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation Device (BVAD).
