Presidency Demands Probe into El-Rufai's Wire-Tapping Claims

The Nigerian Presidency has demanded a comprehensive investigation into allegations made by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai regarding the wire-tapping of the National Security Adviser's phone line. During a television interview, El-Rufai expressed concerns that other individuals were listening to telephone conversations involving the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

He claimed that the government was illegally monitoring citizens' calls without a court order. In response, Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesperson, emphasized the seriousness of the allegations and stated that security agencies would thoroughly examine the claims to determine their authenticity and any potential breaches of the law.

Onanuga also highlighted that no individual is above the law and urged that appropriate sanctions be applied if wrongdoing is confirmed following the investigation.
