Risqua Muhammed Critiques Today's Leaders on National Values

In an interview commemorating the 50th anniversary of his father Murtala Muhammed's death, Risqua Muhammed criticized today's political leaders for their self-serving attitudes, stating they no longer prioritize the nation above personal interests. He expressed concern that Nigeria has drifted away from the values his father embodied, which included strong moral principles, anti-corruption, integrity, honesty, fairness, justice, and equity.

Risqua emphasized that the spirit of sacrifice and service to the people, which characterized his father's era, is missing in modern governance. He warned that without integrity and justice, Nigeria cannot achieve real progress.

He also recalled Nigeria's historical role in supporting liberation struggles in African countries such as Angola, Namibia, and South Africa, noting that past leaders were motivated by selfless service rather than personal gain. Risqua called for a return to leadership that prioritizes national interests over private benefits, urging Nigerians to demand accountability and commitment from those in power to restore trust in governance.
