Three Arrested Over False Divorce Claims Against Elumelu

Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the dissemination of false claims regarding Tony Elumelu, the Chairman of the United Bank for Africa (UBA), allegedly divorcing his wife, Awel Elumelu. The UBA issued a statement on Sunday, describing the claims as false, defamatory, and malicious, asserting that they were entirely fabricated with the intent to mislead the public and damage the reputation of its chairman.

The bank disclosed that law enforcement agencies have commenced an investigation into the origin and spread of these allegations. The suspects, identified as Kingslei Akunemeih, Chigozi Success Ihebom, and John Surpruchi Nwanoru, are known to be involved in the misinformation campaign.

UBA has issued a cease and desist notice demanding the immediate removal of the content and warning that failure to comply could lead to legal consequences, including defamation suits. The bank is committed to protecting its reputation and the privacy of Mr. Elumelu, who will pursue necessary legal avenues to hold responsible parties accountable.
