Trailer Accident in Ibadan Claims Six Lives

On Tuesday, a tragic accident in Ibadan, Oyo State, resulted in the deaths of six individuals, including a motorcyclist, when a trailer carrying 45,000 liters of premium motor spirit lost control and ran over several tricycles. Eyewitnesses reported that the accident occurred along the Oj Beer Route near a fruit market in the Ibadan South East Local Government Area.

The trailer reportedly suffered brake failure while descending a busy road, leading to the collision. Ademola Aderibigb, a tricycle driver, narrowly escaped death with minor leg injuries.

He described hearing a terrible sound as the trailer approached. Among the deceased was a woman who remained inside a polythene bag.

The police confirmed that the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. Oyo Police Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanladi confirmed the accident but did not provide a final casualty count.
