Trailer Accident in Oyo Claims Six Lives, Injures Many

On Tuesday, a tragic accident in Oyo State resulted in the deaths of six individuals, including a motorcyclist, when a petrol-laden trailer lost control and crushed them. The truck, carrying 45,000 liters of premium motor spirit, reportedly experienced brake failure while descending a busy route near the Mapo Beer area in Ibadan.

Eyewitness Suleiman Oguntayo recounted the chaos, noting that the truck collided with five tricycles, leading to multiple injuries. Ademola Aderibigb, a tricycle rider, narrowly escaped death with minor leg injuries.

The victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while others received treatment at a hospital. The local community expressed grief, with one victim's brother mourning the loss just days after naming his daughter.

Senior police officials confirmed the incident and stated that the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. Olayinka Ayanlad, a police public relations officer, noted that the exact number of casualties was still being ascertained at press time.
